Dealing with Various Medical Issues

Hello, my name is Benny and this is my blog. Suffering from a medical issue or illness can really impact your quality of life. For many years, I had a hard time dealing with my medical problems. I was born with a condition which makes it very difficult for me to eat. This resulted in a number of problems. Thankfully, I have had some great doctors over the years who have made sure I had received the best treatment. I have learnt so much about dealing with a wide range of conditions that I decided I should share my knowledge here.

Why Birth Control May Fail

Some people inadvertently make mistakes when using birth control. Such mistakes can often result in pregnancy. This article discusses some of those blunders that you should avoid making in order to get the best results when you use birth control.

Unprotected Sex Upon Starting Birth Control

Some ladies may get pregnant if they have unprotected sex a few days after they have just started taking birth control pills. This may be because the pills have not yet started taking effect within the body. It is therefore advisable to use an additional birth control method, such as condoms, in the first week when you have just started taking pills.

Improper Storage of Pills

Birth control pills may not be affected by the place where you keep them. However, your choice of a storage location may affect how easy it is for you to remember to take those pills at the same time each day. For instance, it may be easier for you to remember to take those pills each morning if you keep them close to your toothbrush. This is because you will see the pills when you are going to brush your teeth upon waking up. This is in contrast to another person who stores the pills in a purse that they hardly use. Such a person will need another reminder to reach for that purse in order to take the pill at the right time each day. You should select a storage location that will make it easy for you to remember to take the pill at the right time each day.

Effect of Medications

The effectiveness of birth control may also be lowered in case you are taking any medication that affects the functioning of the hormones in your birth control pills. For instance, you may get pregnant if you have unprotected sex while you are taking some antibiotics. Some herbs may also hinder the effectiveness of birth control. It is therefore prudent to consult a sexual health professional so that you are sure that any medication or supplement that you are taking won't sabotage your birth control efforts.

Use of Inappropriate Birth Control Methods

Not every birth control method is suitable for all individuals. For instance, the rhythm method is suitable for women that have regular cycles. It may be hard for you to predict the safe and unsafe days if your cycle keeps fluctuating. The chance of pregnancy will therefore increase if you don't track the cycle correctly due to its irregularity. Birth control methods should be selected based on how appropriate they are for your specific circumstances and needs.

Always visit a sexual health clinic like Travellers Medical Services. The professionals there will assess how suitable that method is for you. They will then guide you about how to get the best results from that selected method so that you limit the chance of getting pregnant when you aren't ready.
